At ACT Studios we offer the full service from start to finish! No contacting draftees to do your plans, then a consultant to lodge them, then multiple trades to do the work, not to mention either doing an owner builder course or finding a builder to take the project on. We take care of everything, including design and drafting, approvals, site works, plumbing, electrical, material supply, construction, and project management. All of our prices below are based on including an ensuite sized bathroom and a kitchenette, but we are happy to customise to any size and design.
The classic home office pod, with bathroom and kitchenette! When real estate is at a premium and all you need is a little more space, but you don’t want to do a full house extension this is a great way to go. Grab an extra bathroom to go along with the home office for a quiet room to focus on study, hobbies, or work. Alternatively remove the bathroom and kitchenette for a good cost saving and this project comes underneath the $90k mark for the full start to finish service. Want to change this up a little? Mix and match by taking out the kitchenette for some extra storage space or remove the shower from the bathroom for just a toilet. Another 24sqm option, the 3m x 8m option seems to be the go-to lay out for a home gym or yoga studio. Have it as one large open space or add in some cupboards, bathroom, or kitchenette to suit your needs. Our most popular option by far, this is a great size for a multi-use studio. The 4 x 6 configuration when paired with an ensuite is perfect as a larger home office or guest room. Past clients have used this option as a space to run their business from or as a detached self-contained living space for teenagers or visiting relatives. This studio is also popular as an outdoor entertaining area in a larger backyard.
It’s ideal to back onto a pool or tennis court and serves as a place to get changed or watch the kids from inside, without having to go back to the main house to use amenities. With our high performance insulated panel walls and roof, this studio holds its temperature extraordinarily well and blocks out noise.

At roughly the same size as a double garage, 32sqm is easily enough area to start thinking multiple rooms, like office, bedroom, bathroom, kitchenette. Even as a small secondary dwelling for a little more rent, or functional space away from the main house for visiting relatives. Past clients have used this size as a small granny flat and as a space to run a home personal training business from. As always, we don’t need to stick to these dimensions, we are happy to do a measure up on site and work with you to determine what size will suit your backyard best. The quickest way to get an additional 50sqm of living space on your block is through building a studio. We can get something like this through a building approval in around 4-6 weeks, NO DA required! This design can be cut up and used in a number of different ways.
